The Hillsboro Dog Association, partnering with Hillsboro Parks and Recreation Department through their Adopt-a-Park program, are having a volunteer work event at the Hondo Dog Park on May 18, 2008 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Anyone interested in helping weed, plant flowers, and spread bark mulch at the dog park are encouraged to show up during the project hours. Dog owners and non-dog owners are welcome. Tools and materials will be supplied. While the dog park will be open during these hours it is requested that volunteers leave their dogs at home
The Hillsboro Dog Associations mission is to "enhance the quality of life of dogs and their owners through support of dog parks in the Hillsboro community."
Opening day celebration:
The opening day celebration was September 29, 2007. The opening day coincided with Hillsboro's responsible pet ownership festivities. In addition to the park dedication - there were many local vendors, police K-9 demonstrations, agility demonstrations, fly ball demonstrations, and doggy contests occurred. It was a great day with a great turn out. Thank you Hillsboro for providing our dogs with a place to play. See pictures from the event.
Thank you for stopping by our booth. If you signed up to be a volunteer you should receive an email sometime in the week following the event. Wondering how many biscuits were in the jar we were giving away? There were 923. Mary R. of Hillsboro was the closet guesser with a guess of 1020. She and her daschund were very excited. Thank you to everyone who participated.
